Career Highlight of the Month
Project Management

From vision to delivery — your project’s journey at a glance
Why this is exciting right now:
Product Management (PM) is a booming career where you blend problem-solving, communication, and tech skills to build products people actually use. Companies like Google, Flipkart, and Zomato hire PMs — and many of today’s PMs started their journey right from college
How to explore it while still in college:
1️⃣ Learn the basics – Figure out what PMs actually do (hint: it’s NOT coding). Watch a few YouTube videos, learn terms like MVP, user stories, sprints.
2️⃣ Build core skills –
Problem-solving & user empathy (Design Thinking)
Communication (clear writing & pitching ideas)
Analytics (basic Excel/Sheets)
Tech awareness (how apps/websites work, no-code tools)
3️⃣ Get hands-on –
Run a college fest event like a mini product launch
Redesign an existing app and explain your thought process
Join hackathons or product case competitions
4️⃣ Show it off – Create 2–3 case studies with screenshots, mockups, and the “why” behind your ideas. Put them in a Notion portfolio.
5️⃣ Network & apply – Talk to PMs on LinkedIn, join PM communities, and look for APM programs or startup internships.
6️⃣ Keep growing – Read Inspired by Marty Cagan, follow PM leaders, and keep building side projects.
💡 Pro tip: You don’t need to be a coder to be a PM — you just need curiosity, empathy, and the drive to turn ideas into real products.

Student Question Answered
Question: “I’m in my second year of college with no real projects or internships yet. How do I stand out to recruiters?”
Answer: Start small, but start now. Pick a side project on Passionett related to your field, it could be as simple as analyzing a dataset, building a basic app, redesigning a brand’s Instagram, or writing a short industry report. Even student collaborative projects work!
Document the process publicly (LinkedIn, GitHub, Behance, Medium) so recruiters can see your skills in action.
Proof of work > perfect credentials. You don’t need a big title to stand out — you need visible impact.
